Lori and Astrid World Tour

Well, okay, not a world tour, but my friend and colleague Astrid Blodgett and I will be doing some readings together this fall and into next spring to support our new books. Astrid’s new story collection This is How You Start to Disappear is forthcoming from University of Alberta Press as part of the Robert Kroetsch Series, and my new novel, Flicker is forthcoming in the Brave & Brilliant Series from University of Calgary Press.

Astrid will be launching This is How You Start to Disappear in Edmonton at Audrey’s Books on Thursday, September 14th, and I will be launching Flicker at Memorial Park Library on Thursday Sept. 28th with host Barb Howard. Here are other confirmed readings we have:

  • Owl’s Nest Books in Calgary with special guest, Lethbridge author Steve Passey, on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023. Hosted by Betty Jane Hegerat.

  • Penny University Bookstore in Regina, hosted by Tracy Hamon, on October 26, 2023

  • Reading / talk at the University of Saskatoon hosted by Jeanette Lynes on Nov. 2, 2023

  • McNally Robinson Saskatoon hosted by Jeanette Lynes on Nov. 3, 2023

  • Wild Prose Reading Series in Victoria on May 30, 2024

  • Small Gods Storyteller Series in Sidney, BC on June 2, 2024

And we’re awaiting confirmation for a date for me to read with Astrid in Edmonton, as well as couple of other possible venues. I think it’s going to be a whole lot of fun to be reading in public again.

I had a great time talking to CKUA Radio’s Tony King about Flicker yesterday. The interview aired this afternoon, but you can listen to it on CKUA’s YouTube channel, here. Thanks so much to Tony King

I am most gratified to see that Flicker is included on the CBC Books Fall Fiction 2023 list, which you can read here. It’s an honour to see my book among some wonderful titles by some of my favourite
