Freedom to Read event February 23, 2026

UPDATE: The Legion cancelled our booking with them on Saturday of the long weekend, but thanks to Robin van Eck of AWCS, I was able to book us in at the Treehouse at cSpace. Thanks, Robin! And hope to see you all there!

Join the Writers' Union of Canada, the Writers' Guild of Alberta and the Alexandra Writers' Centre Society as we kick off Freedom to Read Week 2026 on Monday, February 23rd. We'll be featuring a panel discussion with Uche Umezurike, Tracy Dawson and Rosemary Griebel, and then giving the audience a chance to read from banned books during the open mic portion of the evening. Sounds like a great time, right? Hope to see you there!
